Irvine Valley College Astounding Inventions Competition
|
Over 400 students and their families from Tustin and Irvine Unified School Districts participated
in an event where students bring their local school winning inventions to be judged at an area
level. During the day-long event, our Breakaway robot was one of the favorite exhibitors at the science
and math focused outdoor fair. Students stood in line for over 30 minutes to get the opportunity to
drive the Breakaway robot. Parents gathered around our robotics students and mentors to ask about
where their children could become involved in a FIRST robotics program.
Participating in this event also had other benefits. We were able to establish a relationship with
the Engineering Students Club at IVC, discover science career speakers to invite to our school, and to
make contact with several new mentors.
